(We will continue with the happy hour format that was begun last chapter year.   This will get everyone home at an earlier hour and help meet the time constraints of our members. This will include an appetizer buffet and soft drinks.  We hope this format will allow more members to find time in their busy schedules to join us).

Learning to Win Together

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Ted Wohlfarth of EnTeam Institute.  In his presentation we will measure skill at working together.  You will get ideas for encouraging communication, cooperation and teamwork with colleagues and clients.

Ted Wohlfarth is a researcher who founded the St. Louis-based EnTeam® Institute in 1995. EnTeam programs combine the principles of game theory and experiential learning with a dose of fun. Ted has a bachelor's degree in economics from Stetson University, and his master’s degree and doctoral work are in the areas of human resource economics and urban economics at Florida State University. Ted worked in market research for 16 years and taught economics prior to founding EnTeam Institute. He is author of the book Learning to Win Together.

“Manage Your Business More Effectively”.


During this seminar, participants will explore ways in which implementing a fully integrated business management solution can help their organizations succeed.
The first part of this two-part seminar is designed to help participant’s select a business management solution that will exactly meet their business needs.

This involves several different steps including:

  • Identifying the key business issues your company faces
  • Designing a strategy that addresses those issues
  • Selecting an appropriate business management solution
 The second part of the seminar will address how Quilogy can add value by designing and implementing a custom solution that integrates with a packaged application.  The seminar will conclude with a Q&A session.

This meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Westport.  Watch for locations of future breakfast and lunch meetings.  We are always open to suggestions for locations.

October Webcast Meeting--Free

The Accounting and Finance Club at Southeast  Missouri State University will serve appetizers until 6:20 and then proceed into  the Dempster Auditorium for the Keynote speaker event via the web from  6:30-7:30. Meanderings on the Internet; Life in the Information Age

Presented By

Mr. Robert Keel

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Robert Keel, lecturer and Information Technology Specialist at UM St. Louis, who will be speaking on the topic of using the Internet both personally and professionally.

Mr. Keel is a Sociologist turned Information Technology guru.  He graduated Cum Laude with a double major in Sociology and Anthropology from Kalamazoo College and received an AM in Sociology from Washington University.  During his career he has done extensive research, writing and speaking.  In 1996,1997 & 1998 he received the "something extra" award from Students with Disabilities.  UM-St. Louis recognized him as "Outstanding Lecturer of the Year" in 1997-1998.  In 1998-1999 he was given the Chancellor's Award of Academic Excellence.

His topic will be "Back to Basics - Ways to Prosper in Turbulent Times". In this presentation he will talk about getting back to basics with the clients and employees you interact with, cost cutting strategies, and ways to improve sales and reduce sales costs.

Mr. Mannie Sherberg

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Mannie Sherberg, who will be speaking on the topic of business writing skills.

Mr. Sherberg’s company designs and conducts workshops in business writing, business speaking, and sales training.  His corporate clients come in every size, shape, and variety, but they have one thing in common.  A need for employees who can communicate and convey information and ideas clearly, crisply, and convincingly.

Mr. Sherberg writes a widely read column on business communication in the St. Louis Small Business Monthly.  He’s written seven published books about business communication.  He’s worked as a corporate speechwriter as well as conducted hundreds of communication workshops.  Mr. Sherberg has taught or lectured at Washington University, Lindenwood College, and Saint Louis University.

Research Results from the Federal Reserve

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Henry Bourgaux, who will be speaking on the topic of the retail payments system based on the research results from the Federal Reserve.

Henry H. Bourgaux is the Senior Vice President responsible for the financial services operations of the Eighth Federal Reserve District, which includes the three Branch operations in Memphis, Little Rock, and Louisville.

He joined the St. Louis Bank on April 1, 1988.  Before that date, Hank was Vice President and Branch Manager of the New Orleans Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.  He has worked in all areas of financial services operations and has been active on numerous Federal Reserve System advisory groups and task forces.

Hank is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
