The Sarbanes-Oxley Act: Its Implications and A Practical Response

David Hartley, CPA, CISA, CITP is a Director with the St. Louis Office of Protiviti, an independent risk consulting company whose FAQ publication on Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 is widely regarded as a leading thought piece on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and corporate governance. Dave has over 12 years experience in a variety of disciplines including IT audit, external audit, internal audit, IT audit, and business management. Most recently Dave has been focusing on assisting his clients on dealing with corporate governance issues including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

While speaking on “The Sarbanes-Oxley Act: Its Implications and A Practical Response,” Dave will break down the complex topic into manageable areas for you to understand and act upon including: a brief history; the requirements and their significance; how to get involved with the developments; key bodies of knowledge to consider; examples of entity-level and process-level controls; potential formats for documentation and risk and control tracking; the latest guidance related to testing, document retention, and other matters from the SEC and PCAOB; tips for dealing with your external auditor; areas for internal audit involvement; and lessons learned from Sarbanes-Oxley projects.  Dave’s discussion will then be followed by a brief question and answer session.
