Mr. Wyss holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from St. Louis University as well as the designation of Certified Financial Planner. As a member of the National Speakers Association he has made hundreds of pres entations on various financial and investment related topics.

Professional Development Seminar
Mr. Ernie Huband
Effective Management Skills 3:00-4:30pm
This session will focus on Management, Leadership, Motivation, Communication and Team Building. We will
contrast leader ship and management and talk about what makes a good manager and what makes a good
leader. We will discuss motiva tion from a personal perspective and from the standpoint of what motivates your
workers. We will discuss communications to include perceptions and listening skills. We will also take a look at
the importance of team building and what it can do for you in the work place.
Trends in Management Accounting  5:00-6:40pm
This session will discuss somewhat the history of the IMA and the impact the organization has had on
management account ing concepts. We will discuss many management accounting techniques and how we can
use them in the workplace. Some topics included are ABC, JIT, Target Costing, Theory of Constraints,
Benchmarking, Process Mapping, and Reengineering.


Mr. Huband was the National President of the Institute of Management Accountants in 1988-89 and is a retired
Senior Vice president of Signet Banking Corporation. While with Signet for more than 20 years, he served in
many senior management positions including Chief Internal Auditor, Senior Bank Operations Officer, Assistant
Controller of the bank holding company and Vice President and Controller of the bank related subsidiaries.
Prior to joining Signet, he was Controller of Old Dominion Truck Leasing Co. and spent seven years with
Reynolds Metals Company.

Mr. Huband holds a bachelors degree in accounting and an MBA in finance/marketing from the university of
Richmond. While pursuing his business career, Mr. Huband served as an adjunct professor at the university of
Richmond for eleven years and was twice selected the outstanding instructor. After electing early retirement
from Signet, Mr. Huband taught col lege full time for five years at the university of Richmond and Virginia
Commonwealth university. He currently teaches in the Executive MBA Program at Virginia Commonwealth
university, teaches in MA's professional development program and teaches a CMA review course several
times a year.
Mr. Huband holds the professional designations of CMA, CFM, CPA and CBA (Chartered Bank Auditor.)

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Mannie Sherberg who will be speaking on business communication skills. Mr. Sherberg's company designs and conducts workshops in business writing, business speaking and  sales training. His corporate clients come in every size, shape and variety but they have one thing in common--A need for employees who can communicate and convey information and ideas clearly, crisply and convincingly.

Mr. Sherberg writes a widely read column on business communication in the St. Louis Small Business Monthly.  He's written seven published books about business communication. He's worked as a corporate speechwriter and ghostwriter as well as conducted hundreds of communication workshops. Mr Sherberg has taught or lectured at Washington University, Lindenwood college and Saint Louis University.

Want to open a storefront on the Information Highway?  It can be a lot of fun and takes a lot less than you might think.
Bud Banis, who teaches hundreds of UM-St. Louis students a year how to set up websites, will show you, with a live connection, what's behind a small business website and what you need to set one up.  Even if you don't want your own online business, this session will help you understand the new rules of retailing and how the Internet is changing the way markets work. This session also applies to Not-for-profits who want to set up an inexpensive website. Come prepared to share experiences and leave ready to "just do it!".

Topics that will be covered in this practical nuts and bolts discussion will be:

He is the Publisher/ Owner of Science & Humanities Press.

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to Welcome Mr. Jim Kimes and Mr. Bob Faulkner who will be speaking on enhancing total return through covered calls.
Mr. Jim Kimes, CMA, has been an IMA member since 1968.  Jim is a retired financial executive and currently serves on the faculty of both The University of Missouri-St. Louis and Fontbonne College. Mr. Bob Faulkner is currently Vice President of Investments with Saloman, Smith, Barney, specializing in service to individuals and small businesses, with an emphasis on retirement planning. Bob joined the organization in 1984 and prior to that he was an account executive with Merrill Lynch.

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. Bud Kulesza who will be speaking on the changes occurring within the business environment and the impact on the ever-changing knowledge, skills and abilities that will be required for competency in our profession as we enter the new millennium.

Mr. Kulesza, National President of the IMA for 1999 – 2000, is a long time member of the IMA and has served the IMA in many areas of the country and at many levels.  He is the key spokesperson for the “IMA’s Practice Analysis of Management Accounting.”  He has numerous publications in accounting journals including “Management Accounting” and the “Journal of Accountancy.”  He has presented a variety of accounting topics at many universities, accounting conferences and meetings including the World Congress of Accounting in Paris.  Mr. Kulesza earned his bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Rider University.

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to welcome Mr. J. Patrick Cremin who will be speaking on the topic of sexual harassment.

Mr. Cremin, has been with the law firm of Hall, Estill, Hardwick, Gable, Golden & Nelson, P.C. since his graduation from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1974.  He is a partner in the Firm’s Labor and Employment Group.  His practice is primarily labor and employment litigation and counseling.  He has also arbitrated matters before the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers, and has handled general liti-gation, labor arbitration and contract negotiations.  He is an Adjunct Settle-ment Judge for the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

The St. Louis Chapter of the IMA is pleased to present Mr. Charles Brennan, host of KMOX radio’s top rated “The Morning Meeting” as our featured speaker.  He has been named one of America’s top 25 “most influential radio talk show hosts” by USA Today.

The St. Louis Press Club named Mr. Brennan the 1998 Media Person of the Year.  Mr. Brennan blends serious interviews with entertaining features and open lines.  He has interviewed the Rev. Billy Graham, Bob Hope, Gregory Peck, Jay Leno, David Letterman, James Michener, Ted Kennedy, Neil Diamond, Michael J. Fox, Bob Costas, Helen Hayes and many others.  His work has been highlighted by The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, C-SPAN, NBC’s Dateline, The Tom Snyder Show, Charlie Rose and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch among others.  His speaking engagements have spanned everything from moderating debates for U. S. Senate Candidates to addressing the Museum of Television and Radio in New York.  Mr. Brennan began working at KMOX in 1988 after working in Boston radio since 1982.  He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and a graduate of Boston College.
